Women of Color Coalition Series
One of the biggest challenges that women of color face when raising their own fund is the lack of generational wealth networks. After experiencing fundraising first-hand, we realized we needed to bring social work into the fold of creating a mesh network for women of color.
Since the beginning of Dec 2022 our dinner series have been successful in bringing together over 240+ WOC leaders in venture capital dedicated to building and/or supporting minority owned businesses.
Our Program
We host closed and open sessions for our WOC funding series.
The WOC Funding Series is an opportunity for women of color GPs and LPs to connect at a core level. This will be unlike any other business networking event you’ve been to. We take a more human-centric, vulnerable approach to building the foundation for long term relationships guided by The BFM Fund’s Managing Director- Himalaya Rao, who in addition to her MBA, first got her MSW and has a long standing history of working in social work and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions.

Our Process
The closed events are small group sessions that are specifically designed for WOC GPs and WOC LPs to connect through emotional vulnerability. Women of color share and receive the experiences of others as we connect at a fundamental level through storytelling. Himalaya has a background in social work and facilitating group sessions and the Fund has created targeted prompt questions that allow participants to dig deeper and go through a cathartic bonding experience.
After WOC GPs and WOC LPs connect at a core level, we hold an open session for anyone who wants to support women of color who are starting their own funds. The open session gives participants to connect around business and investment opportunities. GPs who participated in the closed session will also be given a quick 90-second pitch opportunity to present to the full bfm.fund/woc-dinners open session as featured WOC-led funds.
